My opinion : A dark, more poignant look at the degradation of an instable man who had been roughed up by the gritty side of society. Though a fairly good script, the film is saved from borderline mediocrity into very good by Joaquin’s masterful performance that dare I say rivals Ledger’s. The cinematography and composition are incredible and construct the mood quite well. But there is no denying that the film takes a very long time setting everything up but when the third act arrives, its by far one of the best third acts of the year as it is so well deserved. And the ending is near perfect.
