My opinion :

Cold In July’s 80s retro style follows very much the same characteristics as the ones we see in the hit TV show “Stranger Things”, and though its synthwave soundtrack is relatively well tuned enough to be a memorability, the inspiration is so strong it just feels like an honest ripoff. The stories greatest asset is its overall unpredictability and fair share of intelligence, but there are many mistakes sought after. The over reliance on music drains all tension from what are very suspensful moments in the film (and there are plenty), and the performances can sometimes be shoddy except for the protagonists thats actually a fairly well built character in my personal opinion. It picks up considerably once legendary actor Don Johnson arrives on screen and retains its elements clearly through its final act. Its fun, but its definitely nothing of high interest. 68/100
